James McAvoy appears to be in line to play iconic 90's grunge rocker Kurt Cobain. Courtney Love has commissioned the upcoming Biopic that will be released by Universal Pictures. The book is based on the 'Heavier than Heaven' which showcases the life and death of Cobain who committed suicide after battling drug addiction at the age of 27.

McAvoy, who is Scottish, has appeared in a number of movies with the most recent being this years 'Atonement'.

Earlier this year Love, Cobain's widow, described the film in as "in an embryonic stage" but it looks like it is getting closer to reality now that actors have been approached to start filming the project.
