Man Accidentally Shot on Set of New Michelle Rodriguez Film

A caterer who had been pulled from the kitchen to play a minor role as a chauffeur in Michelle Rodriguez's upcoming film, "Tropico de Sangre", was accidentally shot during an on-set prop mix-up. The unnamed extra was injured was injured when an actual bullet was used during production during filming in the Dominican Republic.

Rodriguez, who not only is the film's star but is also serving as a producer, blamed the mishap on a lack of safety regulations in the Dominican Republic.

"You're working in a country where they don't really have a film industry. So, safety precautions like, 'Don't put real bullets into a pistol before you load and shoot a scene,' doesn't mean 'shoot (the) guy with a real bullet.'"

Fortunately, the man was not seriously injured.

"He's a good sport; he came to the set a couple of weeks later. He's really cool," said Michelle.

In the film, Rodriguez plays Minerva Mirabel, who was killed along with her sister in 1960 for her legendary opposition to Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo.
