Rihanna to Appear at Chris Brown's Preliminary Hearing as Possible Witness

According to Rihanna's attorney Donald Etra, the singer will appear at a hearing next month as a possible witness in the assault case against ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. Etra says that prosecutors have told him Rihanna will receive a subpoena to testify at the preliminary hearing on June 22.
The focus of the preliminary hearing is to determine whether there is enough evidence to continue the case against Brown.
Etra says that Rihanna will comply with the subpoena, which would mark her first court appearance since the felony assault and criminal threats charges were filed against her ex in March. Should she be called to testify, she would be subject to cross-examination by Mark Geragos, Brown's attorney.
Chris Brown was arrested in February hours before the couple were due to appear at the Grammy Awards. He stands accused of hitting and choking Rihanna in a rented car.
