GOP Should Stop Whining and Come Together

What a pitiful week for the once proud United States of America. Hopefully when we look back at this time many years from now, we will see that the parents not allowing their children to listen to a President's address to schoolchildren and Joe Wilson who disrupted Barack Obama as the apex of divisiveness that has torn us apart during this tumultuous decade. At least we had a bright spot as The Beatles' attempt to take out us out of the doldrums with their remastered works and a video game that will attempt to cheer up a country in need of a lift. The Republican party should particularly take heed of John Lennon's song Come Together and stop all the bickering.

Members of the GOP will quickly play the blame game with the Democrats, declaring that it was their party that started it all. Correct me if I am mistaken, but the vocal minority a few years back were correct in their assertion that there would be no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and by entering in such a war it would be a quagmire for our great military. The loss of civil liberties with the passage of the Patriot Act helped take the USA back 200 years. The Bush policy was so bad that even Dick Cheney has been attempting to distance himself from such a pathetic track record.

That bring us to today. Barack Obama is attempting to install health care for all American citizens. It is long overdue. Health coverage is a human right. Corporate America has made it a big business and does not want to lose control of such a profitable venture. The South Carolina Congressman who disrupted the speech on Wednesday night screamed out "You're lying" to Obama as he was delivering his message. The GOP has been lying so long about health care that they don't even know fact from fiction anymore. The irony of it all is that the outburst will probably be the watershed moment in uniting the Democrats on the issue that the majority of their constituents are calling for.

As for the parents that nixed their children from listening to the President earlier this week. If that was 4 years ago and "liberal Democrats" had such an outburst how would have the Bush Administration responded? W and his cronies may have even went as far to invoke the Patriot Act to silence his harsh critics. How un-American can you get when you will not your sons and daughters listen to the man who leads the nation you claim to love?

The GOP has been sounding like a bunch of sore losers ever since losing the executive branch in November. They can either get back to the task at hand of fixing this country, or they risk losing their entire party because of their childish antics like the ones seen in the past week. There is, of course, room to criticize and debate but the way you are going about it is flat out wrong. Let it Be already - you lost and the Democrats will try to fix the mess that you have created in the eight lousy years your man was in office for.

The other Joe Wilson goes Town-Hallistic

Isn’t Joe Wilson an hoot and a half? It truly is an amusing thing to behold. The extreme right wing is having a collective, massive nervous breakdown. They just can’t come to terms with the nasty little fact that a black guy is the most powerful human being on the planet. It really is kind of funny – to a point.

Here’s what’s happening, boys and girls: The so-called “party of Lincoln” has been forever exposed as ideologically bankrupt and they are in the process of implementing their “scorched earth policy”. In other words, if they have to go down (and down they are going) they’re absolutely determined to bring the rest of the country down with them. That is what is happening - COUNT ON IT.

If you thought that the loony right wing had lost all the marbles they could possibly lose, oh brother! As Al Jolson used to say, “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet”. Here's the part that's not so funny: There is violence down the road. Count on it

Sound paranoid? Stay tuned.

Go ahead, think it is race,

Go ahead, think it is race, not the disaster of Obama's policies.

Iraq a quagmire? We won. WMDs a lie? Maybe...just maybe. Even the reports after the fact don't eliminate the possibility of WMDs having been moved out of Iraq just before the war.

Obama is quickly proving to be the most dishonest, arrogant president in history. Not because he is black, but just because he's a jerk.

You may want to read this article if you really think we "won" in Iraq.

Barack finally found some

Barack finally found some cahoneys and it has the right frightened. As far as Iraq, what did we win.

I agree, Republicans are acting like sore losers

Thank you for pointing this out. Your assertion that they are acting like poor losers is exactly what I was thinking the last few weeks. These are not mature, adults that are willing to argue an issued based upon existing studies and support facts but spoiled brats that think if they can't win fairly then they feel justified to lie, cheat, bully and call names. This is the same mentality as Enron or for that manner, the Bush policy when going to war with Iraq. This current (neo-conservative) grab for a party that use to stand for fiscal responsibility will destroy the republican party if those within it don't stand up for what use to be a constructive second party. Instead, this faction continues to think they are entitled to get their way and that if we the people of the United States don't like it then they'll obstruct anything constructive. What happened to civil public service where the idea was that we engaged in civil exchange of ideas and found middle ground that would be the best for the country NOT win for my party and their cronies at all cost no matter what damage it does to the country. How unpatriotic to think a democratic country should tolerate an adage "if we can't win, we will make sure the other side can't get anything constructively done no matter if we agree with 80% of what they are trying to do" Wilson's outburst is just one more example - isn't this suppose to be a man that is 62 years old, a professional? How can someone justify his actions as sufficiently mature and circumspect for the office he has. It is an action that would get most of us fired if we did the same to our company leader (much less to the President) and certainly an end to his career if he were an officer in the military yet we give him a pass because why? He is a well paid, highly placed elected representative that should be held to standards of decorum and truth higher than those of the everyday person or he should not be trusted with the interests of his state.

Middle Ground

Middle ground, my azz! The only thing found in the middle of the road are dead squirrels and armadillos (depending). Only dead fish go with flow.

Lead, follow or get the f**k out the way!

don't you look foolish now

So now that the Whitehouse has admitted that illegals would receive benefits and admitted the previous bills did not prevent them from doing so will you be correcting your post and giving the right an apology?

From MSNBC

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/09/11/2065287.aspx

Today, for the first time as far as we know, the administration is backing a provision that would require proof of citizenship before someone could enroll in a plan selected on the exchange.

Here, the administration also concedes that hospitals would be compensated with public funds for the care of undocumented immigrants.

Who's been lying?

oh come on!

This is something that is in place already when it comes to our emergency rooms. We require hospitals not to turn away emergency care for all sorts of reasons. This is not a change in anything but how it has been for decades. You are going to suggest that such protections so that people can get life saving care is somehow tied to the existing bill? Ugh! Do you have any desire to have a rational, discussion seeking the truth. Tell me about it next time you find you or a loved one in an emergency room with no proof of identity and they have the right to let you die - yeah right, that would really change our country for the better?
