Hospital Says Reports that Giffords is Awake Are Inaccurate

On Saturday evening, some media outlets had reported that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) was awake and responsive following the horrific shooting yesterday afternoon in Tuscon and her subsequent surgery. However, a spokesman for the hospital told NBC News that those reports were erroneous.

As of 6:20am Sunday, a hospital spokesperson said that Giffords is still in critical condition and that her condition had not changed much since Saturday night. As of this morning, she was sedated.
