Earlier this week, a photo was published in various online media outlets of Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, who is also making a bid for Sherrod Brown's seat in the U.S. Senate for the Republican Party. This wasn't your average, everyday photo. Instead, it was a photo of Mandel dressed in drag standing suggestively behind another young man in drag that was published in his high school yearbook.
The photo was published in Mandel's 1996 yearbook at Beachwood High School. There was no caption along with the photo, which was featured on a page that featured other candid shots.
In the photo (see above), Mandel is in the back wearing the darker wig, a stuffed bra, and bike shorts.
When questioned about the photo, Mandel's communication director Travis Considine issued the following statement to press:
"Josh didn't remember it, but it looks like he was joking around for a gag photo in his high school yearbook. Humor has always been an important part of his personality, especially when he used it to keep up morale among his Marines in Iraq. He also thinks it's important to have a spotter when you're doing lat pull downs."
