No Surprises: Roger Federer Wins 4th Straight US Open


Roger Federer won the the US Open. Again. This is the fourth straight US Open championship for the player many consider the best the sport of tennis has ever seen. He defeated Novak Djokovic 7-6 7-6 6-4. The score was a lot closer that what it appears. Djokovic had chances to win the first two sets.

This completes another amazing year for Federer. He took home the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and now the US Open. Federer has been ranked No. 1 in the world since February 2, 2004, and currently maintains that position for 188 consecutive weeks, the longest of any player - male or female.

The 20 year old Djokovic from Serbia was given a generous applause by the crowd in New York. This was his first appearance in a Grand Slam final after been a Semi-Finalist in this years French Open and at Wimbledon.

Federer takes home $1.4 Million dollars and a brand new Lexus along with a $1 Million dollar bonus for his work in the US Open tour this season. This is Federer's 12th Grand Slam victory only two behind the record of 14 set by Pete Sampras.
