Celebrity Scab Ellen DeGeneres Scolded by WGA

The Writers Guild of America has issued a harsh statement against statement against the first big name to cross the picket line against their strike. The WGA released this statement against the popular talk show host:

"Ellen's peers who host comedy/variety shows have chosen to support the writers and help them get a fair contract, Ellen has not. Ellen said she loves and supports her writers, but her actions prove otherwise . . . We find it sad that Ellen spent an entire week crying and fighting for a dog that she gave away, yet she couldn't even stand by writers for more than one day."

DeGeneres must think sweeps week is more important than thousands of writers who are standing united for a better contract.

Well Oprah has been doing new shows all week also, so how come the WGA deosn't go after her for not supporting the strike, and also The View and Regis and Rachael Ray have all been on with new shows.

They never used union writers and Ellen did. That is why.

I find it SO difficult to acknowlege - such a seemingly - publicly caring person who clearly does NOT have a firm grasp on what is right.

Big mistake--you can't support a strike one day then decide to cross the picket line the next. One blogger pointed out she was a "seemingly publicly caring person." Good observation. She is only publicly caring because it makes her TV persona look good, but in reality, she's not all that caring. The only thing Ellen appears to care about is herself.
