Oasis Best the Beatles in Latest Q Magazine Poll
Q Magazine and HMV recently set out to conduct a poll to find the best British album of the all-time. In that poll, Oasis snagged the top two places, beating out the likes of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd.
Oasis' debut album, Definitely Maybe, came first in the survey, while their sophomoric effort (What's The Story) Morning Glory? came in second. Rounding out the top ten were: (3) OK Computer - Radiohead, (4) Revolver - The Beatles, (5) The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses, (6) Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles, (7) London Calling - The Clash, (8) Under the Iron Sea - Keane, (9) Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd, (10) Urban Hymes - The Verve.
Outside of the top ten, two other Oasis albums also made the top 50 list. Oasis' 2005 album, Don't Believe the Truth came in at #14, and the band's critically panned 3rd album Be Here Now came in at #22.
The Beatles scored five top 50 spots, with Abbey Road, Revolver, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Rubber Soul, and The White Album. The Rolling Stones only managed to place twice at the bottom of the list with Exile in Main Street (#48) and Let it Bleed (#50). Pink Floyd grabbed 9th place on the list with Dark Side of the Moon, one of the best selling albums of all time.

Its true - I agree Oasis are the best ever
Morning Glory wipes the floor with Sgt Peppers, Dark Side.. and anything else anyone has to offer. Its a shame that the people of this country have no taste in music as Oasis really are better than dull Radiohead and Coldplay. Only U2 come close to Oasis!

I DO agree that Oasis is better than the Beatles. Flame me all you want, but the Beatles are horrible.
I do not agree with two things:
A) "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" being in second place. "What's the Story..." is HANDS DOWN the best album in the world. Europe, America, everywhere.
B) Blur not being in the top and Oasis being there twice. Blur beats Oasis, even if "What's the Story..." is the best album. Blur is the best Britpop band, followed by Oasis in second. NEITHER of these are my favorite band, but both are in my top 5 favorites.
Long story short, Oasis > Beatles, but Blur > Oasis.

Oasis gets all of their material from other bands--primarily The Beatles.

Ok i'm a pretty big oasis fan but saying that they're better than the beatles and then saying the beatles are horrible? You're a complete moron. Obviously you know absolutely nothing about music. Liam's voice is becoming more and more fake as the years go by and Oasis's music is not all that great. I cant honestly tell you a bad beatles song ive heard other than revolution 9 and wild honey pie. their music is legit. They built the foundations for modern music. And blur? the only song i've heard by them is Song 2. It's catchy and it was in a fifa soccer game but it's a joke. Britpop gave people something new to listen to but just because it's catchy and you don't appreciate older music you cant say it's better than the beatles. On another note this list is complete garbage. Led Zeppelin is probably the most talented band instrumentally with the beatles being the best songwriting-wise. Radiohead sucks and the Rolling Stones suck and so do all the other british bands. You can't make a top ten there's only like 5 british bands i like. Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, and Kasabian. And kasabian's only good song is processed beats. The american indie rock scene is producing tons of great music that will be recognized but famous music can be trash and keep selling records

i cant believe people continue to herald these one-dimensional plagiarists above their more talented peers. dont get me wrong, i do like oasis and i have all their albums. its good fun music, but certainly not ''best ever'' material. here's a list of british bands who are better than oasis: the beatles, led zeppelin, pink floyd, the clash, the smiths, the stone roses, blur, manic street preachers, the verve, radiohead, coldplay, the libertines, arctic monkeys. need i say any more?

Oasis would be nothing
Oasis would be nothing without The Beatles, so I find it hard to believe that Oasis could ever "best" them. Oasis is good, but not very original.

Noel writes all the songs and by the way, they songs are better than any beatles song! Live Forever and Wonderwall are miles ahead of any beatles song! It proves on this website that Oasis are better! Also Definitely Maybe sold more than any beatles album! The beatles didnt even look like rockstars, i hated mccartney and lennon, couple of wankers! So u people have to accept that Oasis r the best and think of the beatles as a distant memory!

There's no possible way by which someone can love Oasis but dislike the Beatles. If you've seriously heard Oasis or ever read sth about the Gallaghers then you'll know you actually suffer some kind of schizophrenia.
Anyway, don't dare to say they're the best british band ever, but they are undeniably huge and, in my opinion, a little bit underrated. For the one who said they are only big in Europe, lad you outta come down here, South America for instance, and realise u r wrong. Not many bands can come play to thousands and thousands of people in a football stadium in Brazil or Argentina almost 20 years after their debut. They are legends.

Personally i agree that Oasis are the best band ever and both albums are amazing. but you av also got to remember that the list is based on a vote taken by people who buy the magazine and thats the age range between i dont no 15-30 i'd say. a generation which grew up with oasis, whereas those that listened to the beatles dont buy the magazine, so they av still done really well to av so many albums in the top 50. also why has no 1 commented on keane being in the top 10 of all time, they're not crap but i wont say there good. and blur are a good band but they didnt av a great album but the Arctic Monkeys have with Whatever people say i am thats what i'm not, and that should definitly be in top 10.
