Bush and Palin Meet on SNL as Will Ferrell Makes Reprises a Familiar Role

On Thursday night's special edition episode of "Saturday Night Live", Will Ferrell made an appearance as President George W. Bush, offering up his political "strategery" to Tina Fey's Sarah Palin.

Ferrell, who was a long-time regular on SNL, revived his famous impression of the president on the live "Weekend Update" special to give an "impromptu" evening address to the nation. Amongst the issues he discussed was the election race between John McCain and Barack Obama. He said that both candidates are "heavily patriotized" and "display much characterization." Sticking with the GOP, he then offered up his endorsement to McCain and Palin, something they apparently did not want.

Ferrell then said he was unaware of his low approval ratings because several months ago he declared the Oval Office a "bummer free zone."

Talking with Fey as Palin, he then informed her that her role as vice president was "the most important in the land" and that the "president can do nothing without checking with the vice president." Fey quickly corrected him, telling him it was the other way arround.

Darrell Hammond showed up as John McCain, reluctantly receiving Ferrell's endorsement for the presidency.

Fey's impersonation of Palin and Ferrell's impersenation of President Bush are two of the most popular political impersonations in the shows history. Other popular political favorites over the years have been Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton, Dana Carvey as George H.W. Bush, and Chevy Chase as Gerald Ford.

SNL has seen its ratings sore this season, with special thanks to guest appearances by the likes of Tina Fey, the Rreal Sarah Palin, and now Will Ferrell. Other surprise guests have also included Chris Parnell, Bill Murray, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin and Queen Latifah.

Ferrell, who's impression of George Bush is spot-on, will begin a solo show in Broadway in January entitled "You're Welcome America: A Final Night with George W. Bush."

A regular episode of SNL will also air on Saturday featuring John Hamm as host with musical guest Coldplay.
