Is it because of Madonna's influence?

According to a recent report from the New York Daily News, Gwyneth Paltrow is desperately trying to save her marriage with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The rumor is that they are holed up in their London home, "trying to make their marriage better."

A friend close to the actress that spoke with the NY Daily News said that she is so committed to making their marriage work, that "she's staying overseas until the holidays are over." She's even skipping events that she usually attends and loves, such as the third annual Food Bank Lunchbox Auction being held tonight that she usually hosts with friend Mario Batali.

According to the friend, Gwyneth insists that their marriage is fine and that they are "perfectly happy".

But not everyone is saying the same thing. The latest bit of gossip surrounding the notoriously private couple is that Madonna's influence is driving a wedge in their marriage.

One friend says,"Gwyneth has the Madonna bug.... bad. It's eerie. Gwyneth acts normally until Madonna comes around, and then Gwyn is all about Madonna, all the time. Madge has even introduced Gwyneth to all her friends. Now instead of going to see Chris perform, she'd rather hang out with people like Alex Rodriguez and Ingrid Casares."

Gwyneth's rep dismisses the rumors as "complete nonsense."
