On Tuesday July 31st The Head and The Heart will be back in Cleveland performing at The House of Blues. The Head and The Heart is a fantastic show. If I could only recommend one show to you this summer, this would be it. Don't miss it.
I recently had to the opportunity to talk with Josiah Johnson. In The Head and The Heart Josiah performs vocals, plays guitar and percussion. The other band members are Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion), Charity Rose Thielen (violin, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano), and Tyler Williams (drums).
Candis: Can you talk about the name of the band, how it was selected and what it means to you.
Josiah: I came up with the name. Growing up I thought I would graduate high school, go to college, get married and have a stable job. Working 9 -5 wasn't personally satisfying. When the band started I was the happiest I've ever been even though I was the poorest I've ever been. That's the struggle
Candis: Growing up did you have music in your life or did you get into music as an adult?
Josiah: More as a teenager. When my parents had kids they got rid of all their albums because of their christianity. Music was absent from my life. Radiohead was the first band that really influenced me in high school.
