Police said that the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office identified the body of Tishana Culver, 31, on Thursday. Culver also lived on Imperial Ave., and was not reported as a missing person. Telacia Fortson, 31, was also identified earlier on Thursday. Fortson, who resided in East Cleveland, was the mother of three young children and had been missing since May 31.

Culver's family said that they had not spoken with her in more than a year, indicating that they thought she was staying with her boyfriend in Akron. Fortson's family initially filed a missing person's report with East Cleveland police over the summer, and contacted Cleveland's 4th district on Sunday.

Fortson's body was one of two found on the upper floor of Sowell's home. Fortson's 6-year-old son supplied a DNA sample Thursday morning, which was used to determine her identity.

A mass shooting at Fort Hood on Thursday has thus far resulted in the deaths of twelve individuals and as many as 31 wounded. Officials confirmed that three shooters were involved. One has been killed and the other two have been apprehended.

A spokesman for the Army at the Pentagon said the shootings began around 1:30pm. The first of the two shootings took place at a personnel and medical processing center called a Soldier Rating and Processing Center, which handles administrative details for soldiers. The second shooting incident took place at a theater on the base, the Howze Theatre.

All three shooters were said to be US military soldiers. The suspects were in military uniform. The shooter-at-large had a high-powered sniper rifle. Officials have not yet confirmed whether those killed and injured were civilians or military personnel.

Following the attack, the base has been locked down. The Fort Hood website has posted an alert reading "Effective immediately Fort Hood is closed". The site also says, "This is not a Drill. It is an Emergency Situation." and indicates that units at the base have been ordered to account for all personnel. The FBI is also sending agents to the scene.

Anthony Sowell, who has been indicted on charges related to a string of murders in Cleveland, Ohio, may also be responsible for an attack on a woman in San Diego. After 11 bodies were found in the home and backyard of Sowell's Imperial Ave. home in Cleveland, the story and his photos have been plastered on the news across the world. A San Diego woman recognized his photo on TV, and promptly called the Coronado Police Department and said that she was raped in Coronado in 1979 by Sowell.

Sowell joined the Marine Corps. at the age of 18 in 1978. During the eight years he was in the Marines, Sowell was stationed in San Diego part of the time.

Coronado Police have confirmed that they are attempting to learn more about the unsolved crime dating back 31 years ago. However, they have run into some roadblocks. They have been unable to find any records related to the crime, and are now checking with other law enforcemnt agencies in the area to see if they might have handled the case.

On Monday, investigators continued to search the property and surrounding area for additional bodies. Authorities say that they are going to go "bit by bit, piece by piece" as they look for more evidence and bodies in the Sowell case.

The biggest story this day after the election isn’t approval of County government reform or approval of a monopoly casino for a billionaire.

No. The biggest story is about the numerous murdered bodies found in the middle a city neighborhood. In fact, not far from famous Shaker Square in the new 4th ward.

That it could happen with little notice says so much more about Cleveland, its priorities and what it cares about than any election issue. Residents count little in this world.

The question is how does this happen? Why did it happen? Why did it happen so easily? Why did it escape notice so easily? For so long?

Where were the police? Where were health officials? Social workers? Community development personnel? Community activists?

Let’s build a new convention center. Let’s build a new casino. Can we build any new stadiums? Theaters? Fancy restaurants?

Anyone can see reform and casinos don’t answer what really ails Cleveland. You can’t hide it behind glitz or change for the sake of change.

Poverty and its relatives are eating away at the very life of the city. Giving recognition to this is step one.

But we are being sold shoddy goods instead.

Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath held a press conference November 3, 2009 to talk about the gruesome crime scene at the house of Anthony Sowell. The search of the house has yielded 10 bodies. Sowell was convicted of rape in 1989 and released in 2004. When police asked him about the crimes he admitted he had lost track of the people he had murdered.

Another body has been found at the home of Anthony Sowell who was apprehended earlier this week in connection with multiple murders at his Cleveland residence. Sowell is a convicted rapist and late last week was caught in his neighborhood after an extensive manhunt.

Six dead bodies had been found at his house, and the latest looks to be his seventh known victim. The Cleveland Police Department has called a news conference for this evening as workers tear through his Imperial Avenue home looking for more possible victims in these gruesome crimes.

Halloween in Cleveland is a whole lot scarier with a serial killer on the loose. Cleveland police are now on the hunt for 50-year-old Anthony Sowell after the remains of as many as six people were found at the registered sex offenders home.

He is wanted in connection for an alleged attack on a woman in his home in September. When police arrived at the home on Thursday with a search warrant, they found two bodies on the third floor. Because the bodies were in advanced stages of decomposition, the bodies have not yet been identified and their genders not yet determined.

Friday afternoon a third body was uncovered Friday afternoon in a shallow grave in the basement of the home. Cadaver dogs uncovered additional shallow graves in the home's backyard. Investigators say they plan to continue searching the home for more evidence.

Sowell remains at large and on the run. He is considered to be extremely dangerous. He is 6 feet tall and 155 pounds. He wears eyeglasses and frequently sports a mustache. He does not drive a car, and is known to collect and cash in scrap metal. He spent 15 years in prison for a rape dating back to 1989.

Here's a news story that you don't hear too often in Cleveland. Like a scene from The Sopranos, robbers armed with assault rifles busted into a Cleveland apartment on Monday evening during a game of high-stakes poker, forcing the players to take off their pants before running off with more than $11,000.

Police reports indicate that one of the seven players went outside to smoke when he was confronted by a man pointing a gun at his face. Two suspects then entered the apartment, took the players' money and wallets, and then forced them to remove their pants. Not quite finished with them yet, the suspects then doused the players in pepper spray.

The players made the mistake of listing the card game on a poker web site.

Mayumi Heene, the mother of "balloon boy" Falcon Heene, admits that she and her husband lied to police about their son floating off into the skies in a homemade balloon. Last Saturday, she told a sheriff's investigator that she and her husband Richard knew all along that the 6-year-old boy was hiding in the family's Colorado home while police and rescuers chased it, believing the boy was trapped inside.

All this was revealed in a search warrant affidavit released Friday, which also reveals that the parents planned the hoax for about two weeks and that the balloon was constructed for the stunt.

Investigator Robert Hefferman said:

"The motive for the fabricated story was to make the Heene family more marketable for future media interest. She and Richard had instructed their three children to lie to authorities as well as the media regarding the hoax."

On October 15, the balloon drama dominated TV as the networks followed the progression of the drifting balloon as it floated thousands miles into the air before landing three hours later over a hundred miles from the family's home in Fort Collins.

East Cleveland Police have confirmed that a man has turned himself a day after a shooting at a ATM yesterday in the city. The police department did not want to disclose details on the shooting suspect but did say that he was a male in the twenties. The shooting was caught on a surveillance video tape and and made headlines throughout the city.

A 49 military veteran and father of 2 named Terry Fitten was shot and killed on Forest Hills Boulevard. Police had asked for help identifying the victim and the wide media attention probably prompted the unnamed suspect to turn himself in.
