Movie Review: Funny People Starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen

If there's one word to describe Funny People, it would be "taxing". This melodramatic comedy features an aging Adam Sandler (who, as he ages, miraculously looks more and more like Bob Dylan) as well as this generation's most lovable stoner, Seth Rogan. Also included are numerous cameos (Andy Dick, Dave Attell and Eminem, to name a few) in addition to some nostalgic footage of Sandler in his youth.
The film follows big-time comedian George Simmons (Sandler) as he learns to cope with life in death after being diagnosed with a terminal case of AML, a rare blood disorder associated with leukemia. Knowing he has only a short time to live, Simmons hires struggling comedian Ira Wright/Weiner (Rogan) to assist him in writing jokes and work as his personal assistant. While Ira's roommates Leo (Jonah Hill) and Mark (Jason Schwartzman) are becoming more and more popular on the comedy circuit, working with Simmons is Ira's only shot at becoming legitmately employed in his craft. As time progresses, however, Ira finds himself becoming a dying man's confidant and friend.
Former Cast Members Say "Sopranos" Has a Shot at Being Made into Film

Ever since the "Sopranos" stopped airing in 2007, many fans have been holding out hope that one day it could be revived in the form of a big screen movie, a la "Sex and the City". Producer David Chase has remained coy about such a possibility since the show's demise, however cast members have already let it slip, suggesting that a script is already on the page.
The rumor to date has been that James Gandolfini, who plays mafia boss Tony Soprano in the series, has been reluctant to sign on for the big-screen version. However Lorraine Bracco, Tony's psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Melfi on the show, says that the rumor is far off the mark.
Rather, she says:
"I don't think it's that at all. I think it's really trying to get the right script. Without the right script, it's really not worth doing."
Bracco added,
"We've all talked to David to give him a kick in the booty to get it right.
On Monday HBO shot down rumors of the existence of a script, however, Steve Van Zandt ( who plays Silvio Dante, one of Tony's colleagues on the show) added fuel to the fire. He let it slip to a Belfast newspaper that his character, who was struggling for his life in the show's ending, is still alive.
Movie Review: Disney's G-Force

Over-the-top most accurately describes G-Force, and not necessarily in a bad way. This terrifically ridiculous movie follows a trio of special agent guinea pigs and their mole companion as they attempt to expose a conspiracy involving Leonard Saber, a global appliance manufacturer presumably hell-bent on global domination. Along the way, however, the group of rodents (formally known as G-Force) endure their fair share of obstacles while the clock continues to tick against them.
This film features voice-overs from several legitimate stars including John Favreau (Hurley), Penelope Cruz (Juarez), Nicholas Cage (Speckles), Tracy Morgan (Blaster), and Steve Buscemi (Bucky) whilst gaining support from Will Arnett of Arrested Development fame (Kip Killian) as well as Hangover funnyman Zach Galifianakis (Ben). A casting homerun, Galifianakis's character in this particular movie could not have been any more perfect for his brand of subtle comedy ("Does this make me look fatter?") and charming demeanor.
Insensitive "Homecoming" Producer Slams Mischa Barton's Hospital Trip
Mischa Barton is currently being held at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under 5150 hold in the psychiatric ward, and while we're not sure of what went down and why she's being held in there, we assume it's for her protection or the protection of others and that she's got some kind of issue that needs to be worked out. The timing of her hospital stay, however, wasn't exactly great as she was supposed to fly across the country for the premier of her new movie, "Homecoming" in NYC on Thursday night. She did not make it, and the film's producer is neither sympathetic nor very understanding.
Speaking with Us Weekly at the movie's Thursday premier, producer Bingo Gubelmann said:
"It's frustrating. And it's not ideal. It's frustrating, but I'm not going to sit here and trash her because we're young as a company and we've got to live and learn...I don't want to be known as the producer that will turn on any actress at the drop of that hat."
Rolling his eyes, Gubelmann added:
Movie Review: Homecoming Starring Mischa Barton

While Mischa Barton may be going through some personal issues of her own, I think she has created a cult classic with the new film Homecoming. Directed by Morgan Freeman, the film is almost a carbon copy of classic 80's thriller Misery. While Barton is far from the talent of Kathy Bates, she portrays Shelby, who has severe mental disorders, adequately (although maybe she wasn't acting).
From the outside looking in, it seems that Shelby has everything a young lady would want. She runs a popular bowling alley in a small Midwestern town that serves as a gathering place for just about everyone. What people don't know is that she has built up an unhealthy obsession with her former boyfriend, the former local hero who plays football at Northwestern on scholarship, and that she has sunk into inescapable financial troubles.
Shelby completely unravels on Homecoming weekend. Her ex-boyfriend Mike (Matt Long) is in town to have his number retired and makes the mistake of bringing in his new girlfriend. Adding to the stress is a banker that is breathing down her neck, threatening to take away her home and her business. Elizabeth, who has the ill fortune of being Mike's girlfriend, finds herself in Shelby's crosshairs.
New Harry Potter Film Already a Smash Hit

It seems as though the decision to move the opening of the newest Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, from last fall to this month hasn't done a thing to hurt box office attendance. It's only Thursday, and the film is already a resounding success.
The Wednesday midnight showings pulled in a record-breaking $22.2 million, besting The Dark Knight's $18 million pull last year. Wednesday's total was at $58.4 million. It is expected that the film could earn $200 million (or more!) this weekend alone.
Movie Review: Bruno Starring Sacha Baron Cohen

If the protest slogan "God Hates Fags" is true, sexually ambiguous Sacha Baron Cohen may have bartered his soul to the devil for an iPod.
Renee Zellweger to Pack on the Pounds for Third Installment of "Bridget Jones"

She said she was reluctant to do it again, but apparently, all it took was a few years distance and some hefty compensation. Renee Zellweger, who famously packed on the pounds to play Bridget Jones twice - first in "Bridget Jones' Diary" in 2001, and again in 2004 for "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" - will try her hand at the role for a third time.
It is rumored that the film will take inspiration from the series of newspaper columns written by Helen Fielding in 2005, which saw a 40-something Bridget Jones becoming concerned about having a child.
According to Variety, Working Title Films is developing the project. Production is slated to begin in late 2010. By the time the film actually hits theaters, it will have been a decade since Zellweger, now 40, first slipped into the infamous granny panties.
Ryan Reynolds Cast to Play Popular Comic Book Icon The Green Lantern

Ryan Reynolds has landed a role in what is likely to be a blockbuster movie, nabbing the upcoming adaption of The Green Lantern that will hit the big screen in the winter of 2010. The 33-year-old Canadian, who married fellow Hollywood A-Lister Scarlett Johansson last year, beat out the likes of Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper who also coveted the role.
Lindsay Lohan Starts Her Own Production Company
From acting to shilling leggings and spray-tan, Lindsay Lohan is beginning to become a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. We're not sure if this is out of desperation for cash - afterall, acting jobs have been hard for her to come by lately - or what the deal is. Either way, LiLo now has a new endeavor underway - founding a production company.
Lohan and her 6126 leggings line partner Kristi Kaylor have founded a production company called "Unforgettable Productions". The two are said to be developing a number of television and movie projects, including a show called "Faux Real", which is described as an Entourage-like show about the world of fashion. They also have a "docu-cause" TV project in the pipeline following an undisclosed charity, as well as a game show tentatively titled "That's What Friends Are For."
