Living Sacrifice moves back release of their new album for 2010

As previously announced, Living Sacrifice are back with their brand new album, "The Infinite Order," their first release since reforming in 2008. The disc has been moved from Nov. 3 to Jan. 26, 2010 and will be the band's seventh studio album.

Powerful, forthright, thrashy and skillfully executed as ever, the album serves as an unapologetic reminder as to exactly why so many of today's heavy music leaders hold Living Sacrifice and in such high-esteem.

As I Lay Dying frontman, Tim Lambesis sums it up best, "You can hear Living Sacrifice's legacy in the entire generation of bands who've come after them. And those bands still haven't caught up."

"The Infinite Order" was produced in Nashville and Little Rock, Ark. by their longtime friend Jeremiah Scott (The Showdown, Destroy Destroy Destroy). Mixing duties are once again being handled by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Machine Head, As I Lay Dying), who mixed the band's last album, 2003's Conceived in Fire.

They've most recently shot the video for the first single "Rules of Engagement" in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for an early 2010 tour to be announced shortly.

Living Sacrifice:

Canopy Red signs with Creative Soul Records

Christian pop rock band Canopy Red has signed with Nashville-based Creative Soul Records. The group's self-titled debut five-song EP, produced by Eric Copeland will be available on Nov. 3 at iTunes.

The Tallahassee, Fl.- based band has been compared to such artists as Sanctus Real, Relient K and The Afters. But it's not only their sound that draws the comparisons, but the foursome's common goal to impact this generation with the Gospel. Though only in their teens, frontman Forrest Krazit (19), guitarist Joshua Schmidt (17), bassist Nicholas Cleary (17) and drummer Ryan Harvell (18) are clearly on a mission.

“We write songs from the heart and our personal experiences of our walk with Christ in hope of connecting and reaching others,” reveals Krazit. “The theme to these songs is basically the idea that without God we can't do anything, but His love for us is never ending and He always takes us back.”

The members of Canopy Red hope to target their peers with this message through their music. Explains Harvell, “It's written for Christians, primarily teenagers through young adults. Within the songs, we want to convey God's plans are always way better than anything that the world has to offer.”

Interview with Kate Voegele

On Tuesday, October 6th I had the opportunity to talk to Kate Voegele. It was the night before she kicked off the tour in her home town Cleveland, Ohio.

Candis: Hey Kate, How are you?
Kate: Doing well, getting ready to start up another tour tomorrow so I'm excited and really pumped.

Candis: Tomorrow is the first date of the tour, correct?
Kate:Yeah the first date of the tour is tomorrow, crazy.

Candis: Did you pick Cleveland as the first tour date since this is your home town?
Kate: It is my home town. It was convenient and why not kick it off in Cleveland? It's a fun part of getting the tour together. Cleveland has been good to me from the start. Figured, start this tour where it all started in the first place.

Candis: Do you get to choose the bands that open up the show for you?
Kate: Yeah no matter who you tour with you're always going to have a good experience. It's awesome to have a say in it. Green River Ordinance is a great band and a great group of guys. Kevin Hammond is super talented, really cool guy who I actually just did a duet with. He may end up putting it on his record that is going to be coming out.

Candis: What's your favorite song to perform?

Music Review: Awake, Skillet

Last year they had us Comatose and in 2009, Skillet gets us Awake. Awake starts with “Hero” as it’s a brilliantly orchestral rock track full of audacious vocals from Jon and Cory Cooper wrapped around thrashing chords and pounding double bass that definitely inspires you to shout this one out. This disc’s second hit single, “Monster” which is just as pulsating as “Hero” but adds more screams and less singing as well as great shredding giving this a metallic tinge to its body.

”Awake And Alive” gets back into the symphonic melodies with amplified keyboards tweaked with violin samplings accenting the crescendo of high hats, heavy frets and that cool mix of male and female dueting nicely. Skillet offers a serene ballad on “One Day Too Late” as this song has an essence of tight hooks, rolling breaks and harmonious lyrics that is quite internal and retrospective. They give us another heart-wrencher with “It’s Not Me, It’s You” as it has that familiar combination of deep-throated shoutings and passionate chants filling our ears with gritty jams on this love-lorned tale.

Concert Review – Kate Voegele

Last night Kate Voegele kicked off her fall tour in Cleveland at the House of Blues. What a great place to start a tour, her home town. She seemed so happy and excited to be back in Cleveland.

Kate rocked the stage with her band and played the guitar for nearly every song. She also played a few acoustic songs. Voegele has an incredible voice and when she sings acoustically you really get to a chance to hear her talent.

Kate and her band played songs from both her old and new album. The new album is titled "A Fine Mess". "Lift Me Up", "Angel" and "Who You Are Without Me" were just a few songs included in the set list last night. An enthusiastic version of "Inside Out" was played early on in her set.

Music Review: Church Music, David Crowder Band

One of worship music’s most eclectic groups, David Crowder Band are back with something called Church Music. Church Music kicks off with “Foes Hilleren (Hail Gladdening Light)” as it has this ambient nature to its soul with the digitalized samples of crackles and whisps mixed in nicely with Crowder’s raspy moanings that chills you to the bone. “The Nearness” keeps the technical aspects from the first cut; yet emphasizes heavy beats and slick grooves as this song will get you to dance around and yell out vigorously.

They lower the boom a bit on “Shadows” as light echoes and poppy melodies lets us see what they’re singing about wrapping us into its tight blanket of beauty from the darkness. Next was “SMS (Shine)” as it was a down tempo ballad filled with defined four-part harmonies and twinkling keys that asks God to send his brilliance down on us here on Earth. “The Veil” gets back into the techno-inspired themes as frenetic synthesizers and crashing high hats blaze around like a bonfire as David bellows out voraciously.

Lady Antebellum's Need You Now set for a January 2010 release

Country's newest star trio, Lady Antebellum announced plans to release their sophomore album titled NEED YOU NOW on Jan. 26, 2010. The lead single by the same name is the fastest rising of their career to date pushing its way into Billboard's Top 10 in just nine weeks.

"This song, and what we've finished of the new album so far, is all about passion," explains guitarist/vocalist Dave Haywood. "There's a real sense of urgency and fire...almost like a spark has reignited us creatively in the studio...so when we started talking about album titles, 'Need You Now' felt like it summarized our vibe right now perfectly."

The highly anticipated release date from the CMA's 2008 "New Artist of the Year" comes the same day their self-titled debut album was certified PLATINUM by the RIAA for more than 1 million in sales. The album has also now been certified GOLD in Canada. Additionally, 18 months after its release, the disc that was called "one of the best new artist debuts in recent memory" by Billboard has never slipped from the Top 10 on iTunes Country chart.

Mudvayne releases a special treat on their new self-titled album set for December

MUDVAYNE are back with a self-titled release that will hit stores on Dec. 22 and shall leave fans blown away by its eclectic complexity and brutality. Their last release, “The New Game”, produced two hit singles; the #1 ‘Do What You Do’ and ‘Scarlet Letters’ are continuing to receive massive radio airplay and video rotation on MTV2 and Fuse. One could say that this new album is the hardest, but yet most melodic record, they've ever created.

Alongside the blistering new tunes. MUDVAYNE have outdone themselves once again with the mind-blowing packaging for the new album. The new album is revolutionizing album artwork design, as this is the first album to ever use black light reactive ink. Every bit of art and text in the packaging of the record will be printed on ink that can only be seen with a black light. Fans receiving this record as a gift during the holiday season could truly have a “White Christmas” courtesy of MUDVAYNE

Matt McDonough MUDVAYNE’S drummer had the following to say about the new album, “I feel that this album is the best that the band has recorded since our second album, The End of All Things to Come.”
