There's a new King in the making. Elvis Presley's 17-year-old grandson has just been offered a $5 million deal by Universal Records to put out five albums, and he's already gotten to work on recording songs. Ben Presley, who was born 15 years after the King's death, says that he does not plan to channel his grandfather's rockabilly stylings.

Ben noted:

"The music will be nothing like Elvis, nothing like him at all."

He is currently taking a short break from recording his album, which he hopes to have out next year.

A partial song list for the upcoming album, which is expected to hit the shelves, spring, 2010 is: Black Feet, Chilled, Loose Cannon, Blues, La Raza, Head On, Get off the Fence, Left Hook From Right Field.

Here's what ARMORED SAINT vocalist John Bush had to say about how the new album came together:

illScarlet debuts in The U.S. with album and tour

Canadian reggae-tinged act, illScarlett feels like a mix of Sublime meets No Doubt with a dash of Goldfinger thrown in for good measure. A cast of chill characters raised on their parents’ Beatles and Queen records, and influenced by the likes of Nirvana, Incubus, Beck, The Police and Foo Fighters, the Mississauga, Ont. natives built the initial framework for illScarlett’s infectious sound, perfect for fist-pumping punk/pop/reggae jams, by cultivating, shaping and finessing their songs into their own signature creations.

They could be described as a rhythm and reggae influenced, filthy dub band that takes no prisoners, but just go to an illScarlett show and you'll find a slew of sweaty, screaming kids who are fans of hip-hop, punk and emo, charged full of frenetic energy, jumping off the stage and rolling in the pit.

Currently on tour with like-minded party bros Pepper, and soon to hit the road with Big D & The Kids Table, they're winning over new fans every night. While on this most current trek the band is selling its first U.S. release, EPdemic.

Chase Long Beach goes out on the road

Chase Long Beach will be launching a U.S. tour this fall, beginning with a hometown performance at the Long Beach Marathon in Long Beach, Calif. on Oct. 11.

Touring in support of its most recent release, Gravity Is What You Make It, the band is the first west coast ska-punk band signed to indie label Victory Records in nearly a decade. The album has been getting raves from tastemakers such as the UK’s Rock Sound who claims, “Amidst a sea of palm trees and beach shorts, SoCal’s Chase Long Beach are here to cheer us all up, injecting their hi-res, high energy ska punk sounds right into the heart of the deepest, darkest discontent.”

The band’s latest video for “We’ve Got Pockets Like It’s Nobody’s Business” was directed by KROQ DJ Kurt St. Thomas, who also helmed Brand New's video for “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows.” You can watch the Chase Long Beach video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-eAZ1HGOAk.

Since 2002, the sextet comprised of both men and women have been making a name for themselves with musical originality and creating a sound they can be proud of. Working hard from their home turf of Southern California and reaching out to live audiences around the world, the result has been a musical phenomenon and energetic live performance that speaks to their wide audience and provides the answer to the next wave of ska-punk sound.

In their six years together, they've released two EPs: Attack of the Fuzzy Things, (2004) and Chase Long Beach Hosts a Molotov Cocktail Party (2006), closely followed by their excellent full-length debut, LEBEC (2007), produced by Reel Big Fish front man Aaron Barrett. Barrett also makes as a guest appearance on Gravity Is What You Make It, as does Catch 22’s Kevin Gunther.

The members of Chase Long Beach pride themselves on their do-it-yourself work ethic and are entirely comfortable on all stages whether performing in youth centers, dive bars and national venues. The band has toured numerous times over North America and Europe, in excess of 200 dates a year.

Shapes Stars Make signswith Dreamt Music

Dreamt Music is proud to announce the signing of Dallas-based trio, Shapes Stars Make.

This group is an all-embracing indie band pulling ambience, post-rock guitar hooks, and romantic vocals from a galaxy of influences; but it's the shimmery texture of their sometimes experimental music that sets them apart. In fact, if Aurora Borealis had a soundtrack, Shapes Stars Make would be it. Songs grow and diminish as if they are alive, evoking a living breathing being made of music and light. This emotionally rich indie rock is heavy with post-rock influence and has been beautifully categorized as an 'atypical condensation of genre techniques' (The Neo-Surrealist Movement). Absolute Punk has referred to Shapes Stars Make as 'airy with gentle flickers that light up small and large.' Michael Gooden, Jon Cook, and Zach Edwards give their music room to expand and contract organically which, with the help of producer John Congleton (Appleseed Cast, Explosions In The Sky), leads to the sweeping layered melodies that define Shapes Stars Make.

They will be releasing their debut full length in January 2010.
