Snow Patrol – Live in Columbus

Last Sunday night I drove down to Columbus to see Snow Patrol perform at the Lifestyle Community Pavilion. This was my first time attending a show at this venue and it is really nice. This show was inside but there is also an outdoor venue adjacent to the indoor stage. There are some great bands on the lineup for fall in Columbus including, Stone Temple Pilots, Pete Yorn, OK Go, Them Crooked Vultures and Our Lady Peace.
I know that this might seem like a ridiculous statement but Snow Patrol has been number one on my list of bands to see. Most people probably know this band from their hit song "Chasing Cars" which was featured on Grey's Anatomy a few years ago. "Chasing Cars" was on the band's 4th album titled "Eyes Open". In October of 2008 the band released their 5th studio album titled "A Hundred Million Suns".
Amazon Offering Paramore's New Album Brand New Eyes for Just $3.99

One of the most anticipated releases in rock this fall was rising superstar rock band Paramore who released Brand New Eyes yesterday to critical acclaim. The Tennessee based band, fronted by the newest rock vixen Hayley Williams, were coming off a turbulent time in their history nearly breaking up in the late 2008 when the stress of touring got the young band.
From all accounts, the band is back and better then ever and promoted their latest release by supporting No Doubt on their comeback tour. If you were thinking about grabbing the new album but didn't want to break to do so there is great news as Amazon is offering a promotional price of $3.99 for the album.
The band has embarked on another leg of the tour to spread word about their album in smaller venues to give their fans an up close look at the band instead of the larger amphitheaters they have grown into the past few tours. The bad news for Clevelanders, however, is that the closest they will be coming is Detroit on October 11th. Below you find the link to buy the album along with their latest hit single that has been in heavy rotation on alternative radio for the past month.
Fran Healy & Andy Dunlop of Travis to Tour US & Write Album
Photo: Travis perform in Cleveland for the first time in seven years on April 20, 2009.
Lead singer Fran Healy and guitarist Andy Dunlop of the Scottish band Travis are gearing up to tour the United States, while also writing music for the band's next album. Inspired by Jack Kerouac, author of "On the Road", Healy and Dunlop say that this tour also serves as a way to celebrate Travis' music.
In embarking upon this adventure, Healy is also fulfilling a dream. He said that he has always wanted to travel across the U.S. and try to write a record:
"So, I thought, 'Why don't we take our acoustics and go from venue to venue and then on our downtime try and do a little [writing] here and there and see what we can get together?'"
The tour's name is quite a mouthful, dubbed "A Chronological Acoustical Journey Through The Travis Back Catalogue: Laugh Out Loud Stories, Scottish Accents, Handsome Scottish Men, Naked Torsos." The tour was also inspired by an experience in Austria where Healy was told he would need to perform for 10 minutes for a gig, and then told upon arrival that he would need to play for an hour:

Beatles Rock Band Might Be Gone By Holidays
The Beatles are undoubtedly the most popular band of all-time, so it is no surprise that their first venture into the world of video games - The Beatles: Rock Band - would be a resounding success. Nevertheless, sales of the video game have far exceeded expectations, so much so that Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman is warning that it might not be available for Christmas shoppers.
Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Dauman said that the "Limited Edition Premium Bundle," which sells for about $250 and comes with a Ringo Starr/Ludwig-branded "Rock Band" drum kit, could sell out by November. Speaking with Wall Street analysts on Wednesday at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia XVIII Conference in New York, he added:
"If any of you out here want to buy some, you better hurry up."
Nightmarer, Queens Club
Nightmarer, Queens Club
Born from the remains of The Chariot comes Queens Club with their debut release, Nightmarer. This disc opens on its title track, which begins with tons of feedback-based bass lines and distorted breaks fronted by this perpetuated whiny tenor vocal that irritates your ears as it’s a trite post-industrial rock jaunt. However, “Dust” sounds like it came out of the shoegaze era of music with its quirky tones and poppy synths as a lilt falsetto rises from the smoke giving us a feminine visual from a masculine band which is kind of creepy in its essence; yet this haunting approach does illuminate their interpretation quite well.

New Michael Jackson Song to be Released Next Month

Michael Jackson's first posthumous release has been scheduled. The song "This Is It" will be released on October 12. Sony Music Entertainment has not offered many details about the song, but did say that it includes backing vocals by Jackson's brothers.
Two weeks after the song's release, Sony will also release a 2-disc set to coincide with the documentary movie depicting Jackson rehearsing for his London concerts. He died before he could publicly take the stage once again.
The album will include some of Jackson's greatest hits, and the second disc will feature previously unreleased versions of his songs as well as a spoken-word poem by Jackson called "Planet Earth."
