Former Browns QB Derek Anderson Signs Deal With the Arizona Cardinals

Derek Anderson is now a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Darren Urban, who writes for the Cardinals official website, tweeted an hour ago on the account Cardschatter:

QB Derek Anderson reportedly agrees with Cards.

With Kurt Warner retiring this off-season, Anderson will likely compete for a starting job with Matt Leinart. Leinart is a former first round draft pick out Southern Cal but has yet to fulfill expectations so far in the NFL. The Browns and Cards will not face each other in the 2010 season.

Roethlisberger Admits to Sexual "Contact" with Woman Claiming Assault

Last Friday, Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault at an Atlanta area nightclub. Roethisberger has admitted to police that he had sexual contact with the woman, but denies that the two had intercourse, say sources.

According to KDKA, after the woman made the assault claim, Milledgeville, Ga. police spoke with the quarterback. Investigators also intend to interview Roethisberger again in the coming days.

Roethlisberger had been at the Atlanta club celebrating his 28th birthday. Sources say that the Pittsburgh Steeler told police that the woman, 20, had slipped and fell after the sexual contact, injuring her head. She immediately went to a local hospital, where she filed her complaint.

Police will soon be asking Roethlisberger for DNA samples, which will presumably be used to see if it matches substances taken from the woman at the hospital.

The Super Bowl champ is also dealing with another legal situation. A woman claims that he raped her at a Lake Tahoe hotel and casino last year. Ben has strongly denied these allegations as well.

Browns Acquire Seneca Wallace Through a Trade with Seattle

The Cleveland Browns knew that they had to do something about their quarterback situation, and today picked up Seneca Wallace from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade on Monday.

In exchange for Wallace, the Seahawks will get an undisclosed 2011 draft pick, which will likely depend on his play. Browns president Mike Holmgren is familiar with the quarterback, having drafted in him 2003 while he was still with Seattle.

Last season, Wallace played in 10 games, and threw for 3 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and had a 65% passing efficiency. Standing at 5'11", Wallace is the shortest active quarterback in the NFL.

With the acquisition of a new quarterback, Cleveland is expected to release one or both of their current quarterbacks, Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson.

Wallace attended Sacramento City College in order to stay close to home. He transferred to Iowa State University for his junior and senior year of college, where he began to gain recognition.

Georgia College Student Claims Ben Roethlisberger Assaulted Her

A college student has accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexually assaulting early Thursday morning at a Georgia nightclub. Police say the alleged assault of a 20-year-old female occurred in the Capital City bar in Milledgeville.

Roethlisberger's agent, Ryan Tollner, said that the quarterback had spoken to police about "an allegation" after "Ben and his friends met a group of women and everyone mingled together throughout the evening."

Ben has not yet been charged with anything. Last year, he was also the subject of a sexual abuse claim in which a woman claimed that he raped her. Roethlisberger denies the allegations and has countersued.

New Orleans Saints March Past Indianapolis Colts 31-17

The New Orleans Saints are Super Bowl champions tonight after disposing of the favored Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Miami. The Colts got off to a quick 10-0 lead after one quarter, but the Saints would cut their lead to only 4 at intermission with two field goals. New Orleans, who had a 4th down call backfire on them late in the first half at the Colts goal line, would surprise the Colts with an onside kick to start the second half and convert it for a go-ahead score at 13-10. The Colts would quickly answer with a 10 play 76 yard drive and a one point lead. That would be the last time that Peyton Manning's club would have the lead, however, as the Saints would score the next 15 points for a 31-17 victory. Leading the way in the New Orleans' Super Bowl victory was quarterback Drew Brees, who went an outstanding 32-29 for 288 yards and two TDs.

Here is how the scoring went down in tonight's contest:

Seven NFL Legends Added to Pro Football Hall of Fame

The 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame class was named today. Guard Russ Grimm, linebacker Rickey Jackson, cornerback Dick LeBeau, running back Floyd Little, defensive tackle John Randle, wide receiver Jerry Rice, and running back Emmitt Smith make up the Class of 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinees.

The seven-man class was elected by the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee who met today in South Florida. The newest members of the Hall were selected from a list of 17 finalists who had been determined earlier by the committee.

Grimm was a steadying force of the Washington Redskins’ offensive line known as “The Hogs.” The standout guard earned All-NFL acclaim and Pro Bowl trips four consecutive seasons.

Jackson helped turn the Saints from perennial losers to a playoff contender and becomes the first long-time player from the team to be elected to the Hall of Fame. He was named first-team All-NFL four times in his career.

LeBeau, was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns but cut, joined the Lions shortly thereafter. He went on to enjoy a 14-year career that saw him intercept 62 passes. That total currently ranks third all-time among cornerbacks.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga plead guilty to DUI today. The Maualuga also was put on probation for two years and ordered to pay US$884 in a fine plus court costs. The former USC standout also received a suspended seven-day jail sentence and had his license suspended for 90 days. The charges stemmed from an incident last week in which the 23 year old crashed his car while intoxicated.

I sincerely apologize for letting everyone down and making a terrible decision to drive under the influence. I wanted to acknowledge fault quickly and accept the consequences for my actions, which are the same that anyone else facing these charges would receive.
