Ohio State Adds Two More Years to Jim Tressel's Contract

Ohio State University has added two additional years to head football coach Jim Tressel's contract. Tressel had his original contract, which was signed in 2008, extended through the 2014 season.

During his nine-year run with the Buckeyes, Tressel is 94-21. Depending on incentives and additions, he makes roughly $3.5 million per year in Columbus.

On Tuesday, OSU athletic director Gene Smith said that Tressel told him he was satisfied with his salary. He was aware of the financial problems the athletic department is facing, and did not seek an increase in pay.

To offset some of the athletic department's losses, OSU ahs increased football prices by $7 to a face value of $70. They've also added $1 to the price of basketball tickets.

The Ohio State board of trustees will still need to approve the contract in May, but objections are not likely.

13-Year-Old Football Phenom Gives Verbal Commitment to USC

For most talented high school football players, talks of athletic scholarships and committing to play for a particular college don't come until late in their high school careers. But a 13-year-old quarterback has given a verbal commitment to play college ball at USC, an unprecedented move for the sport.

While not totally common, some basketball players have given a commitment to a college before beginning high school, but it is virtually unheard of in football.

David Sills of Bear, Delaware already stands 6-foot tall at 13-years-old. His personal coach, Steve Clarkson, said he is "breaking down NFL footage" and that "His skill set is off the chart." He added that "I've never seen anyone at his age do what he's been able to do.

On Thursday evening, Sills made an unheard of move and told USC head coach Lane Kiffin of his intentions to join the USC Trojans.

Clarkson revealed that the scholarship offer arose after he called Kiffin to talk about a quarterback recruit for next year's class. He says he told the coach, "Well I've got a kid now who is better than all of them and he's in Delaware. You gotta take a look at him."

The teen's father spoke to Kiffin for the first time this week. Speaking with EPSN.com, he said:

Tim Tebow Responds to Controversial Super Bowl Advertisement

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow said he is standing up for what he believes in a Super Bowl ad featuring him and his mother. The ad has drawn criticism from women's groups because it is likely to convey an anti-abortion message. Here is what he said to the press today regarding the controversy.

Tim Tebow Comes Under Attack for Anti-Abortion Super Bowl Advertisement

An advertisement featuring former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mother is facing criticism from a group that doesn't think an anti-abortion advertisement has a place on Super Bowl Sunday.

"An ad that uses sports to divide rather than to unite has no place in the biggest national sports event of the year - an event designed to bring Americans together," said Jehmu Greene, president of the New York-based Women's Media Center.

Tebow said of the advertisement purchased by Focus on the Family for somewhere between $2.5-$2.8 million:

"I know some people won't agree with it, but I think they can at least respect that I stand up for what I believe," Tebow added. "I've always been very convicted of it (his views on abortion) because that's the reason I'm here, because my mom was a very courageous woman. So any way that I could help, I would do it."

Gary Waters Talks About Cedric Jackson Getting Called Up by the Cavaliers

Gary Waters sounds like a proud papa discussing his ex-player Cedric Jackson's promotion to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jackson has averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game, ranking third in the league in assists per game for the Erie Bayhawks. Waters, through a press release from the school, said:

"I am tremendously happy for Cedric and proud of him for what he has accomplished," CSU head coach Gary Waters said. "At the start of the summer when he began to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA, there weren't a lot of people who thought he had any chance of achieving it.

"But like he did when he came to Cleveland State, Cedric worked hard and let his play on the court do the talking. He practiced all summer with the Cavs and by September, he had impressed the management enough to get placed by them with Erie in the NBDL. Once he got that opportunity, I knew that it would only be a matter of time."

Nick Saban and Alabama Players Mark Ingram and Marcell Dareus Discuss BCS National Championship Victory

COACH SABAN: I would like to make a statement. First of all, I'll tell you what I told the team, that I've never been prouder of a group of guys for their resiliency, their buy in, their hard work, the blood, sweat and tears that they put worth to accomplish what they accomplished this season.

I think most of us don't realize how difficult it is, the togetherness that it takes, the discipline and execution that it takes, and certainly the hard work that these guys did. And we certainly appreciate it and are proud of them and want to congratulate every member of our team and coaching staff for the great coach that they did.

We also have a great team at the University of Alabama, our administration, Dr. Robert Witt, our athletic director Mal Moore, and everybody in our organization who worked so well together to put this team together that has stayed together and accomplished something that they can be proud of for the rest of their lives.

Since you arrived at Alabama, you've stressed finishing. How satisfying is it in the biggest stage that your guys persevered there in the fourth quarter and finished them off?

Texas Longhorns Mack Brown, Sergio Kindle and Jordan Shipley Talk About Loss to Alabama

What did you tell your guys after the game?

COACH BROWN: I told the guys that they had a great run, 17 straight, 26 out of 28. They came into this game, I thought this they were prepared. I thought they worked really hard. After Colt (McCoy) got hurt, obviously we were limited in some of the things we could do, and the play before the half they tried to throw a little shuffle pass and tried to take a shot in the end zone because we knew points would be hard, that one went against us.

They actually got at the back of the game with a chance to win end of the game. I told them I was proud of their fight, I was proud of their toughness.

Was this one a little tougher to take because of the unknown as far as Colt's injury? I know you had to deal with injuries, but the fact that you just don't how it could have went?

COACH BROWN: Losing is tough. We're proud to be in the National Championship Game and still equally as hard to lose it.

The communication with your team, I know it's painful right now, managing going forward, to see the freshmen get some work, but there's a continual healing process, won't there be?
